Crafts' Science Corner – Trimester 3 Updates! As we dive into the third trimester, students are engaging in some exciting hands-on science experiments! Here’s a look at what each grade is exploring: 🔌 Grade 6 – Electricity in Action! Sixth graders are kicking off their study of electricity by building their own electric circuits in teams. Some groups have designed lie detector tests, while others are crafting flying propellers or even radios! Their creativity and problem-solving skills are truly electrifying! 🌱 Grade 7 – Photosynthesis & Maple Syrup! Seventh graders have been investigating photosynthesis by measuring the effects of light on spinach leaves and detecting the oxygen they produce. Soon, they’ll get a taste of photosynthesis—literally! Students will participate in a maple syrup production activity, where they will tap trees, collect sap, and distill off water to create the delicious syrup we all love. ⚗️ Grade 8 – Chemistry in Action! Eighth graders are diving deep into chemistry. Recently, they experimented with the distillation of wood, producing charcoal, "wood juice," and a flammable gas! They are also sharpening their skills in balancing chemical equations, an essential part of understanding how substances interact and change. It’s an exciting time in the science lab, and we look forward to more discoveries ahead! Stay tuned for more updates. -Mr. Crafts

Coin Slam 2025 What a day! Students and staff donated more than $750 today. The total money donated over the three days of the Coin Slam totaled $1200! I f the coins were placed edge-to-edge they would reach a length of 511 feet. If the coins were stacked they would reach a height of 40 feet! All proceeds from the Coin Slam go to Caring for Kids and the New Harbor Food Pantry. The generosity exhibited by the BCS community is amazing. We have raised over $13,000 in 12 years.

In art, first graders made hearts using oil pastels and watercolors. Then they used hole punches on the edge and “sewed” with yarn. Happy Valentine’s Day! - M rs. Cough
