We are very excited to invite you to join us for Lincoln Hospital’s annual Winter Physical Activity Challenge. “Maine’s Lighthouse Legacy” will run from Monday, January 27, to Sunday, March 9. It is completely free to participate.
We created a “Fun Facts” document detailing the history of some of Maine's coastal lighthouses and fun facts about them.
The activity can be completed individually or as a classroom. During this 6-week event, exercise at least 30 minutes, 4 times a week to “reach” various lighthouses across Maine’s Coasts.
Time being active can include recess, PE, walking and any other moderate to intense physical activity that you do as a class or as individual students.
Each classroom will receive:
Large tracking map
Wristbands for each student
Gold or silver medal keychain at the end of event

On Wednesday and Thursday Grade 4 had the opportunity to meet with Dan Lemieux, a retired shop and robotics teacher. Students had recently been working on honing their measuring skills, and Dan provided a hands-on way to practice those skills. Under Dan's guidance, fourth graders constructed wooden key hangers. They were able to measure to the nearest 1/2, 1/4, 1/8, and 1/16 of an inch in order to create their pieces. -Ms. Winchenbach & Mr. York

Pre-K Unit 4: World of Color
In the classroom, we will begin to explore the colors in our world. We began the unit with Color days here at BCS. We will learn about the functions of color in our world, and in nature. The children will be experimenting with color mixing in art class, we will discuss words like tint and shade, as we add to our vocabulary. We are continuing to strengthen our math skills with math games like bingo and counting down from 10, matching and categorizing. We will continue to work on and learn turn-taking and sharing skills at the same time.-Mrs. Sawyer

Kindergarten and second-grade students concluded their Friday afternoon activities with an exciting STEM challenge. They designed and constructed a basket for Little Red Riding Hood using materials such as paper, tape, staples, and popsicle sticks. The objective of the challenge was for the basket to successfully support a wooden block representing a cake mix.
