Students use problem-solving skills to complete challenges using indi robots. Indi uses a color sensor to recognize colors and perform tasks based on the color. Indi recognizes 8 colors. Green will make indi go. When indi sees a blue tile it will turn 90 degrees to the right. A purple tile causes indi to perform the very popular spin-o-rama! - Mr. Cough

Creative Flow Circle at the Merry Barn On Sunday, December 3, from 2-3:30 p.m., join Morgan Mitchell and Stephanie Noyes McSherry for a Creative Flow Circle designed specially for kids. Creative Flow Circles are intentional and nonjudgmental spaces to explore creativity in community. Participants listen to instrumental music, moving color across a circle of easels, switching easels as the music changes. Each participant contributes to each piece, one after the other, producing a series of collective creations. This process invites all into the moment, releasing perfectionism, and opening to imagination and possibility. Once everyone has painted on every easel, we will pause for a festive snack. Then we’ll dive back into the experience by writing or drawing in response to our creations. Creative Flow Circles take place at the Merry Barn Writers’ Retreat, 417 River Road, Edgecomb, ME. Register at: www.creativeflowcircles.com. Questions: stephaniemcsherry@merrybarn.com

After finishing a unit on creating cartoon characters, fifth graders have been learning about paint techniques. They made papers with multi-colored washes and used the wet-on-wet technique. When their papers dried, they added silhouettes or made items inspired by the paint blobs they made. - Mrs. Cough

We were fortunate to be able to welcome the school based educator, Allison Fortin, from New Hope Midcoast last week for presentations in grades PreK - 8. Their messages center on building healthy relationships with all of the classrooms, but also include a focus on safe and kind choices with kindergarten, teamwork and acceptance with grades 1 & 2, being an upstander to unkind behavior in grades 3 & 4, healthy boundaries and communication in grades 5 & 6, and with 7th and 8th grade they examine how power and control can influence relationships, as well as sharing information and resources around domestic and dating violence. To learn more visit https://newhopemidcoast.org/ or contact our school counselor, Gretchen Brinkler by phone or at gbrinkler@aos93.org
