Students in are grades 2-5 are officially starting the junior duck stamp unit to prepare for submitting their composition to the contest.
Third graders began learning about three types of waterfowl (ducks, geese, swans).
They learned about habitat and the history of the duck stamp (started in 1939 and originally named the Migratory Bird Hunting Stamp Act, signed into law by president Franklin D Roosevelt). Since it’s inception the duck stamp has helped to raise $950 million dollars to conserve wetlands/ habitat, support clean water, and manage flood prevention/ soil erosion throughout the United States!
Student chose their specific waterfowl this week and are very excited to begin their paintings.
Ms Tibbetts 4th grade class enjoyed a hearty stew cooked over an open fire as party of a history through food exploration.
Our third graders started ice skating lessons this week at the MRC. They showed great perseverance and a positive attitude during their first lesson. They can’t wait for the next three weeks!

Our third graders enjoyed our winter tradition of opening upcycled board games, puzzles, and books donated by their families! We enjoyed playing some new to us games and of course tearing into a present!
We had an integrated lesson around animal adaptations, combining agriculture, art, and biology. Liz and Mark Ferrero brought their three wethers for students to study and play with.
Third graders have been busy working on their tennis skills and agility. Lots of fun, laughs, and games along the way. Thanks Georgia and the CLC YMCA for the engaging lessons these past few weeks.
