Louis Doe and Damariscotta Hardware have free giant pumpkin seedlings for folks who want to grow a pumpkin for the festival. They also are giving out giant tomato and giant zucchini seedlings as well as info on how to grow them. We will be growing some at school over the summer. Wish us luck!

Fourth grade teachers are ready for beach day everyday!

GSB's annual student art show is coming up at Coastal Rivers! There will be an afternoon/evening open exhibition for GSB friends & family on Thursday May 29th from 4-6 pm as well as community exhibitions on Monday, June 1st, Tuesday, June 2nd and Wednesday June 3rd during Coastal Rivers hours of operation from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm. We hope to see you there!

4th graders worked with Ms. Jen to design smash-proof containers for their egg drop!

On May 28, join us at Lincoln Theater for the World Premiere of When Penguins Fly, They Die, conceived, written, designed, and performed by GSB 5th - 8th grade students. The play tells the story of how things came to be in the world and helps answer some age-old questions like, how did the sun and moon get into the sky? Why don’t polar bears have long fluffy tails, and for goodness sake, why don’t penguins fly? The audience will definitely find the answers surprising and it will probably keep them wondering long after the play has ended. Doors open at 4:20, play begins promptly at 4:45. This is a FREE public event.

The third annual Wax Museum was a huge success! What a brave group of third graders who impressed their friends and families.

OPEN POSITION Elementary Special Education Teacher for K-8 Functional Life Skills Program Begin August 2025 Location: Great Salt Bay Community School, Damariscotta, ME Description: This is a teaching position that requires the belief that all children can succeed. Responsibilities include planning instruction and adapting or modifying the education program to enable students to benefit from educational and community experiences. Also, maintain contact with parents of students, determine goals and objectives for IEPs, evaluate student progress and observe timelines for special education paperwork. Knowledge of Adori database is helpful. Requirements: Valid Maine Teaching Certificate with 282 Endorsement required. Experience in a functional life-skills program is preferable. 2025-2026 PreK & Kindergarten Parent Information Night – May 19th at 6:00 PM Please join us for our PreK/K Parent Information night. This evening is for parents and guardians to ask questions, hear about what to expect in the upcoming year, and gather helpful information. We’ll kick things off in the cafeteria with a short presentation about our school and our PreK and Kindergarten programs. After the presentation, parents and guardians are invited to take a tour of the school and stop by the classrooms to meet the teachers.
