1st through 6th grader groups worked on The Storm Drain Challenge, having to retrieve 9 items from a 'storm drain' using random recycled materials.
The Sixth grade team was able to get all 9 items out in under 11 minutes. ALL of the groups demonstrated great engineering creativity, logical thinking, team-work, and communication.

On this Valentine's day, Mr. Brown and some 5th and 6th graders had fun jumping rope! (Miss Kopishke jumped too, but she took the pictures.)
6th Graders celebrated World Read Aloud Day by getting comfortable in their PJs and blankets to share their favorite read-aloud books with friends!
These are two classes, a 5th grade group and a 6th grade group , meeting during recess to work on developing elaborate and artistic maps, writing creative storyline, & creating characters for a game project they are each working on.
Who doesn't love a cup stacking challenge in 6th grade advisory group?
GSB students who won 2nd place and Honorable Mention in the MSTOYA/MCLA Writing Contest. They competed against 58 (3rd-5th) and 92 (6th-8th) students from across Maine. The theme was “A Teacher Who Impacted Their Lives”. They wrote about GSB teachers Ms. Tracy and Ms. Jen. Congratulations to them both!
Mr. Sal reads “Let them Play” to 3rd grade in honor of African American History Month.
Students in Ms.Tibbetts' class have been tracking the path of the sun throughout the school year. They noticed their shadows were shorter since the winter solstice. This observation is in agreement with the hypothesis in their science journals.
The GSB 3rd grade students spent a whole day at the Salt Bay Farm with Sarah and Angela from CRCT. We learned about animal adaptations, tracking, playing migratory hopscotch, and creating our ultimate adapted winter creature.
