NCS had 18 students participate in the Lincoln Academy Pumpkin Run on Wednesday. Five NCS students from Grades 4-8 placed in the top 10 for boys and girls. All completed the race and were able to take home a pumpkin. Some also took home some LA swag gear, including hats, T-shirts and more. Go, Lions!
NCS students attended fire safety presentations with members of the Nobleboro Fire Department on Oct. 22-23. They learned about the gear firefighters use, got up close to a fire truck, and discussed home escape plans and safety in case of emergency. The youngest students even got hats. Thanks, NFD! The sounds of clinking change jars and happy voices echo in the lobby each morning as NPTO holds its annual Penny War to raise money for school activities. Students in grades K-8 have been donating change and paper money, competing in teams to raise the most for NPTO. The winner at week's end will receive a brownie sundae party and movie. Go, Lions!

Students in Mrs. Courand's fourth grade classroom learned "Cat's Cradle" as a teamwork exercise at Nobleboro Central School this month. Go, Lions!
Several piles of wood chips added excitement to the NCS playground at recess this week. Children used pots, pans, shovels, diggers and other ingenious methods of transporting the chips from here to there. Go, Lions!
Kindergartners met their teenage buddies on the playground Monday, Sept. 30. They will take part in fun activities all year long through this partnership between Mrs. Stewart and Mr. Suttmeier. Go, Lions!
Kindergarten students, their teachers and family chaperones recently visited Biscay Orchard in Damariscotta. They picked and sampled apples on the Sept. 24 field trip. Go, Lions!

NCS second-graders in Ms. K-B's classroom earned a reward and got to bring their stuffed animals to school last week. The children read to their "stuffies" and went about their day with their favorite toy to cuddle. Go, Lions!
The NCS Lions traveled to Vinalhaven aboard the ferry Monday to play soccer. Although NCS lost the game, it was perfect weather and everyone enjoyed the sunshine and salt air. Go, Lions!
Students in Mr. Suttmeier’s class have been learning how to build wigwams and started on their own this week on the nature trail behind NCS. They also worked with their first grade buddies and visited the library to do research for Native American tribes. This is part of a social studies unit. Go, Lions!
First-graders released butterflies during recess this week. They have been learning all about the life cycle of the marvelous monarch.
It's School Picture Day! Excitement was running high all morning as students and staff smiled for the camera Monday. Go, Lions!
Nearly 50 NCS students who read over the summer were included in a celebration Sept. 12 in the library. Mr. Drew & His Animals Too visited from Lewiston with some of his scaly (and fuzzy) friends. Children learned about conservation and rehabilitation of exotic animals like tarantulas and scorpions, as well as common critters like snapping turtles. Thanks, Mr. Drew!
AOS 93 has one or more schools that participate in Special Provision II or Community Eligible Provision for school meals. This alternative is referred to as Provision II or CEP. All students enrolled in schools listed below may participate in the School Breakfast Program and the National School Lunch Program at no charge. Household applications are not required to receive free meals this year but Economic Status Forms will be distributed by the school to collect household income data for other programs that require this information, such as Federal Title programs. The Economic Status Forms are also available in the online registration on the "Agreements" page.
All students will be served breakfast and lunch at no charge at Bristol Consolidated, Great Salt Bay, Jefferson Village, Nobleboro Central and South Bristol Schools. For additional information please contact your student's school.
Studies show that children who are not hungry perform better in school. By providing both breakfast and lunch at no cost to students, we are helping to create a better learning environment.
The school meals that we serve follow U.S. Department of Agriculture guidelines for healthy school meals. The School Breakfast and Lunch Programs cannot succeed without your support; please encourage your children to participate in the school meals programs.
The application requesting economic information supports many programs at our schools which helps reduce the local tax. Please complete and return the forms. Only one per family is needed.

Feeling like you have free time on your hands, NCS families? Summer reading is for you! Students who log their summer reading and turn it in to Mrs. Harriman when school resumes will get a reward. Not only will children receive the benefit of maintaining or improving their reading skills, but they also will take part in a fun Summer Reading Celebration in September. Go, Lions!
