Straw's Farm gave GSB students a great tour of their family farm, and sent us back with some of their delicious pork sausage to use at our end of year Agriculture pizza party. You can find their products at the Damariscotta Farmers Market on Fridays. We have spent the year working on a pizza unit where we have learned how to grow and process tomatoes, basil, garlic, and wheat. Today we learned more about sausage, and next up is making mozzarella. We are so grateful to farms like @strawsfarm for growing and raising food for their neighbors.

Our annual By One Get One Free Book Fair provides a great opportunity to stock up on excellent summer reads!

Back in the fall, these students tracked growth, monitored water quality, and ensured our Sugar Kelp and Alaria were strong enough to make it in the wild. We’re o-fish-ally amazed to see the final results! It’s been a months-long learning journey that proves big things have small (classroom-grown) beginnings. Now they will be taking their freshly harvested results over to FARMS kitchen to try preparing their kelp into a delicious dish!

Coach Sarah Richards has been coaching Cross Country and Track and Field at GSB for 14 years. “My favorite part about coaching is seeing the team spirit that develops between the athletes and lasts for years to come throughout the community. My first team from GSB is now in college, many of whom continue to run in that capacity. This photo of me and my running buddy was taken at the Turkey Trot in November. I was so proud to see more than 25 runners of all ages present whom I had coached over the years. It is always my goal to meet an athlete where they are; whether they have never tried running at all or are experienced and ready to keep going. Respect for team members is the foundation for team spirit and a lot of fun!”
When Sarah is not coaching, she loves riding horses, gardening and art.
Good luck to the GSB Track team this season! They have their first meet on Wednesday, May 6th in Camden.

This is Olivia’s second year coaching Track at GSB. Olivia grew up in the midcoast area and attended Lincoln Academy, graduating in 2018. She has been a part of the Track and Field/ XC scene for a total of 9 years between middle school, high school and college. She also coached Track at Lincoln Academy for two years prior to coaching at GSB. When she isn't coaching, Olivia teaches Art at Nobleboro Central School.
Olivia is excited to return as GSB’s Track coach this year. "At its core, Track is a sport that teaches the benefit of perseverance, teamwork, and for lack of a better word, heart. This is a sport where everyone is welcome, everyone is accepted, and everyone is striving to be better- as an athlete, a teammate, or a friend. Coach Sarah and I are here to help guide those goals."
We wish GSB’s Track team the best of luck this season! The team has their first meet on Wednesday, May 6th at Camden.

We are thrilled to officially welcome our new baseball coaching duo for the upcoming season!
Head Coach: Julian Hupp
Assistant Coach: Jesse Cheney
Julian is a familiar face in the dugout, having served as our assistant coach last year. Both Julian and Jesse bring a wealth of experience to the program, having spent years playing baseball themselves and coaching Little League.
GSB's next home baseball game is Tuesday, May 5th at 3:45 pm vs Wiscasset. We hope to see you there!
